Golden Meadow Man Dies After Being Struck by 18 Wheeler
Galliano- On Monday, December 15, 2008, at about 1:30 PM, Troop C responded to a two vehicle crash on LA 3235 at LA 3161 in Lafourche Parish that eventually claimed the life of a Golden Meadow man.

A 2007 Mercedes M35 (SUV), was being driven westbound on LA 3161 by Anthony Guilbeau (W/M, 79, from Golden Meadow, LA) when his vehicle approached its intersection with LA 3235. The driver of the Mercedes, Guilbeau, failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign and entered into the intersection where it was struck on its driver's side door by an 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler, a 2006 International pulling a fully loaded tanker filled with salt water, was northbound in the inside lane and was driven by Roosevelt Nevers ( B/M, 49, from Houma, LA).

Guilbeau was originally transported to Lady of the Sea Hospital by South Lafourche Ambulance with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Guilbeau was wearing his seat belt. Nevers received minor injuries and was also transported to Lady of the Sea Hospital by South Lafourche Ambulance. Nevers was wearing his seat belt. There were no other occupants in either of the vehicles.

Alcohol use is not suspected. Nevers submitted to a breath test with results of .000g%. This indicates no alcohol. Because of the injuries received by Guilbeau and the medical treatment he received upon arrival at Lady of the Sea Hospital, a blood test was not able to be obtained. Alcohol use is not suspected on the part of Guilbeau. There were no witnesses to this crash. TFC Kevin Resweber is continuing his investigation.
