TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE December 21, 2015 Unrestrained New Roads Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash in Pointe Coupee Parish Pointe Coupee Parish – Shortly before 8:00 pm on December 20, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred on LA 978 west of LA 1 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash took the life of 32 year old Jeremy Gremillion of New Roads, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Gremillion was traveling eastbound on LA 978 in a 1998 Toyota Camry. For unknown reasons, Gremillion failed to negotiate a left hand curve and ran off the right side of the road. Gremillion’s vehicle overturned several times before coming to rest in a cane field. Gremillion was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Pointe Coupee Parish Coroner’s Office. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from Gremillion for analysis. Contact Information: | |||
