| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 2, 2008 Speed and Alcohol- Suspected Factors in Critical Injury Crash On Saturday, March 1, 2008 at approximately 2:35 am, a single vehicle crash in Lafourche Parish sent a Thibodaux man to the hospital with critical injuries. Jeremy Benoit, 27, of Thibodaux, LA was traveling northbound on Choctaw Road in a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. Mr. Benoit was operating his vehicle in excess of the posted 45 mph speed limit in a left curve when his vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and struck a large tree. Mr. Benoit was wearing his seat belt and had to be extricated from his vehicle. Mr. Benoit was transported to Thibodaux Regional Hospital by Acadian Ambulance. Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor, and the results are pending analysis from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
