Troop C’s New Executive Officer Became Third Generation to hold the Executive Position

Captain Darrin Naquin is proud to announce the promotion of Lieutenant Gregg Falgout to the position of Executive Officer at Louisiana State Police Troop C. As Executive Officer, Lt. Falgout will be second in command of Troop C and acting commander in the absence of Captain Naquin. He will also assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the troop and will supervise a wide array of support functions to include dispatch, fleet operations, and evidence.

A native of Raceland, LA, Lt. Falgout grew up wanting to be a public servant to his community. He was always familiar with Louisiana State Police Troopers because his father, Elmo Falgout Jr., and his grandfather, Elmo Falgout Sr., were both Louisiana State Troopers. Elmo Falgout Sr.’s tenure with State Police was from February 1, 1949 to August 15, 1975 and he retired as Troop C’s Executive Officer. Elmo Falgout Jr.’s State Police career began February 16, 1966 and he retired as Troop C’s Executive Officer on August 1, 2000.

Lt. Gregg Falgout graduated high school from Central Lafourche in 1984. He started his community services by joining the Lafourche Parish Fire District 1 Volunteer’s Fire Department. Lt. Falgout began his law enforcement career with the Lafourche Parish Sherriff’s Office in December of 1984. He worked as a patrol deputy until being accepted to the Louisiana State Police Academy (67th session) in 1990.

Upon graduating from the training academy in April 1990, Lt. Falgout began his career with the Louisiana State Police as a patrol trooper at Troop C in Gray. He worked as a patrol trooper for nine years and on March 31, 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served as a first line supervisor on a patrol shift. He also served for several years as a member of LSP’s SWAT Team and is a POST certified firearms instructor. On November 3, 2005, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned as a commander of a patrol shift. After Captain Naquin received his promotion from Executive Officer to Captain, Captain Naquin selected Lt. Falgout on July 15, 2008 to take his place as Executive Officer of Troop C.

Lt. Falgout teaches Traffic Incident Management to several outside organizations within the Troop C area. Lt. Falgout has attended Northwestern University Traffic Institute’s crash reconstruction course and has been a crash reconstructionist for many years now. His specialized training includes, but is not limited to: SWAT, Traffic Incident Management, Crash Reconstruction, POST Certified Firearms Instructor, and Sig/Glock Weapons Armorer to name a few. Lt. Falgout’s training and expertise have not gone unnoticed, as he is the recipient of many Louisiana State Police Awards. In both 1998, he was selected as Troop C’s Trooper of the Year. Lt. Falgout was awarded a lifesaving medal in 1998. In 2005, he received the Meritorious Service and Unit Citation awards for Hurricanes Katrina/Rita. He was also acknowledged in 2005 as the Louisiana State Troopers Association Troop C Affiliate “Member of the Year”. In 2007, he received another Unit Citation and a Professional Excellence Award for Troop C’s excellence in seat belt enforcement.

Lt. Falgout has been the Assistant Fire Chief for Lafourche Fire District 1 volunteers since 1992. He has been with the fire department for over 25 years.

Captain Naquin and all the troopers at Louisiana State Police Troop C are proud to have Lt. Gregg Falgout as the Executive Officer. Lt. Falgout brings many years of experience serving our community through both law enforcement and the fire department. Lt. Falgout is well respected, not only among all in the State Police Organization, but also among other agencies and citizens as well. Lt. Falgout is married to the former Dee Lee of Houma, LA. They have one daughter, Shawnee Falgout. Lt. Falgout and his family reside in Raceland, LA.
