Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 5, 2008 Single Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Pierre Part Man A single vehicle crash on LA 70 in Assumption Parish claimed the life of a Pierre Part man on Friday, July 4, 2008 at approximately 2320 hours. Brandon H. Dunigan, 23, of Pierre Part, LA was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant west on LA 70 when he failed to negotiate a left curve as he was traveling at a high rate of speed. The Galant left the road to the right and impacted a tree. The Galant then caught on fire. Dunigan, the only occupant in the Galant, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. Because of the damage sustained by the fire, safety belt use and air bag deployment are unknown at this time. After speaking with the family, alcohol use is suspected. Blood will be drawn by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office and sent to a crime lab for analysis. There are no charges pending in the crash. Troopers are currently continuing their investigation.
