Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 28, 2008 Unrestrained Thibodaux Man Dies in Lafourche Parish Crash On July 27, 2008 at approximately 6:05 PM, an unrestrained Thibodaux man died after being involved in a head-on crash on LA 308 in the Thibodaux area of Lafourche Parish. Dean Price, (W/M, 42, of Schriever, LA) was traveling south on LA 308 near LA 648 in his 1990 Chevrolet Corvette. Price's vehicle veered right traveling onto the southbound shoulder for a short distance before crossing back into the southbound lane. Price's vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the northbound lane. Price’s vehicle struck a northbound 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Katherine Leblanc (W/F, 55, of Thibodaux, LA). Upon the head-on impact, the two vehicles rotated slightly clockwise and came to rest approximately three feet apart from the point of impact. Terry Leblanc (W/M, 36 of Thibodaux, LA) was a passenger in Mr. Price's vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Terry Leblanc was not wearing a seat belt. Price was transported from the scene to the Thibodaux Police Department where he was given a breath test. Price’s breath test results were .000g%, indicating no alcohol. Price was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. Katherine Leblanc had a slight odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. However, due to her injuries no field sobriety test could be performed. She was transported to Thibodaux Regional by Acadian Ambulance. As per state law, blood was drawn on Ms. Leblanc and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Results are pending. Ms Leblanc was wearing a seat belt. Charges are pending analysis and consultation with the Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Office. TFC Timothy Naquin is continuing his investigation.
