Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: August 2, 2008 Single Vehicle Larose Crash Critically Injures Driver On Saturday 8-2-08 at approximately 12:10 AM, Troop C troopers were notified of a single vehicle crash on LA 1 near North Bayou Estates in Lafourche Parish. A 2007 GMC Sierra, driven by Audie J. Lafont (W/M, 36, of Lockport, LA) was traveling north on La 1 north of Larose when it ran off the road to the left. The GMC went through a ditch and struck several trees and came to rest. Lafont was not wearing his seat belt. Lafont was transported to St. Anne General with critical injuries. Alcohol is suspected as a factor in this crash and Lafont was charged with Improper Lane Usage and DWI 2nd. Toxicology results from the blood is pending analysis from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Tpr. Tracy Plaisance continues his investigation.
