Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: June 7, 2008 Mother and Son Die in Head-On Crash on LA 70 On Friday, June 06, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatal crash in Assumption Parish that claimed the life of a mother and her son. The crash occurred at approximately 9:00 PM on LA 70 near Brule Moran Rd. (between Spur 70 and LA 3127). A 2004 black Chevrolet truck being operated by Richard A. Bond, 23, of Baton Rouge was traveling west on LA 70 when the driver crossed the centerline and began to travel in the eastbound lane. The Chevrolet truck then struck a 2006 tan Dodge Durango, which was traveling east on LA 70. The Dodge Durango was being operated by Kelly M. Buggage, 32, of Baton Rouge. Buggage and her 12 year old son, Nathaniel Buggage 3rd, received fatal injuries. Nathaniel died at the scene. Kelly Buggage was transported to Prevost Hospital in Donaldsonville by Acadian Ambulance where she later died. There was also a 7 year old male passenger in Kelly Buggage’s vehicle. The 7 year old received moderate injuries and was transported to Assumption Community Hospital in Napoleonville by Acadian Ambulance. Bond, who was the only occupant in his vehicle, was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with moderate injuries by Acadian Ambulance. Kelly Buggage was wearing her seat belt; however, Nathaniel and the 7 year old were not. Both driver and passenger side airbags deployed in the Buggage vehicle. Bond was wearing his seat belt. His driver’s side airbag was deployed. Alcohol and drug use are unknown at this time; however, blood tests are pending analysis.
