Motorcycle Crash in Gibson, LA Results in Fatality

On Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at approximately 9:20 pm, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred on LA 20 near Fandall Street in the Gibson community in Terrebonne Parish.

A 2008 Honda CBR 600RR, driven by Danny Duval, Jr. (W/M, 22, of Gibson, LA) was traveling west on LA 20 when he failed to negotiate a right curve. The motorcycle crossed the center line and eastbound lanes traveling off the roadway to the left. Once off the roadway, the motorcycle struck a garbage can. The motorcycle continued to travel for another 150 feet before coming to rest with the driver against a culvert.
Mr. Duval was transported to Thibodaux Regional Hospital by Acadian Air-Med where he was pronounced dead. Alcohol is not suspected; however, results are pending his blood analysis. Mr. Duval was wearing an approved DOT helmet. He did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license.

There were two other motorcyclists riding with Mr. Duval when the crash occurred. The two other motorcycle riders indicated that Mr. Duval was traveling at approximately 60-65 mph. The speed of the motorcycle is still being investigated. TFC Charity Knoblock is continuing her investigation.

So far in 2008, Troop C has investigated 14 fatal crashes resulting in 15 people killed. Comparing this same time frame last year (2007) to 22 fatal crashes resulting in 29 people killed.
