TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE August 9, 2015 Driver and Passenger Killed in Early Morning Crash in East Feliciana Parish Update – Troopers have identified the unknown deceased passenger as 41 year old Joyce Williams of Clinton, LA. Slaughter, LA – Shortly before 4:00 am on August 8, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred on LA 19 north of LA 956 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 26 year old Tasha Whitfield of Jackson, LA and an unidentified passenger. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Whitfield was traveling northbound on LA 19 in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. For unknown reasons, Whitfield’s vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road. The vehicle then struck a concrete abutment, causing it to catch fire with Whitfield and the unidentified passenger still inside. Whitfield and the unidentified passenger received fatal injuries as a result of the crash. They were pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner’s Office. A third occupant in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. This crash remains under investigation as Troopers work to identify the passenger and the cause of the crash.
