Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: April 19, 2010 32 Year Old Morgan City Woman Dies in Crash Bayou L’ourse – On Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 7:53 p.m., a single vehicle crash on LA 662 south of LA 398 in Assumption Parish claimed the life of a 32 year old female from Morgan City, LA. Shane Albert (W/M, 28 of Morgan City, LA.) was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on LA 662 in Bayou L’ourse, LA. Albert failing to negotiate a left bank curve, crossed into the southbound lane, overcorrected and ran off of the northbound lane striking several trees. The passenger, Ginger Champagne Vaughn (W/F, 32 of Morgan City, LA.) was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Albert, who was wearing a seatbelt, received serious injuries. Vaughn, who was not wearing a seat belt, received fatal injuries. Albert and Vaughn were transported to Teche Regional Hospital where Albert was listed in serious condition and Vaughn later succumbed from her injuries. Alcohol and or drug use is unknown; however, speed appears to be a factor in the crash. Blood results are pending from the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office and Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
