Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: April 26, 2010 Missing Florida Man Dies in Terrebonne Parish Crash Gibson – On Monday, April 26, 2010, at 9:46 a.m., a single vehicle crash on LA 182 in Gibson, LA claimed the life of a thirty-nine- year- old male from Fort Meyer, FL. A passerby observed what appeared to be a body floating in Bayou Black and called authorities. After further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle and driver had been reported missing on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 9:26 a.m. Christopher Sims (B/M, 39 of Fort Meyer, FL) was operating a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on LA 182 in Gibson, LA. Sims failed to negotiate a left bank curve at which time the vehicle continued off the roadway to the right, overturned into Bayou Black, and ejected Sims. Sims, who was wearing a non DOT approved helmet, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol and / or drug usage is unknown.
