Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: February 18, 2010 Fatal Crash in Lafourche Parish Claims the Life of a 38 year old Cut Off Man Lafourche – On February 18, 2010, at approximately 4:06 p.m. Troop C investigated a three vehicle crash on LA 308, approximately one mile south of the Valentine Bridge in Lafourche Parish. The crash claimed the life of a 38 year old Cut Off man. Robert Letell (W/M, 52 of Metairie, LA) was operating a 2001 Ford F-250, northbound on LA 308 in Lockport, LA. when Letell failed to negotiate a left hand curve. Letell’s vehicle ran off of the northbound lane, re-entered the roadway and crossed the centerline into the southbound lane striking a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Francis L. Addison (W/F, 32 of Galliano, LA.) on the driver’s side. Letell’s vehicle continued northbound in the southbound lane striking a 1990 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Willie J. Galliano (W/M, 38 of Cut Off, LA.) head on. Letell, who was not wearing his seat belt, received moderate injuries. Addison, who was wearing her seat belt, received minor injuries. Right front seat passenger in the Addison vehicle, Hayden Martin (W/M, 12 of Galliano, LA.) who was wearing his seat belt received minor injuries and rear seat passenger in the Addison vehicle, Madison Plaisance (W/F, 7 of Galliano, LA.) who was not wearing her seat belt received minor injuries. Galliano, who was wearing his seat belt, received fatal injuries. Letell, Addison, Martin, and Plaisance, were transported to Ochsner St. Anne Hospital by Acadian Ambulance. Galliano was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. The involvement of alcohol and /or drugs usage is suspected in the crash. Blood results are pending at this time from the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office and Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The following charges have been filed in the crash: DWI 3rd, Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Negligent injury (3 counts), and Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Letell will be booked at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center upon being release from the hospital. Troopers are still continuing their investigation.
