Fatal Crash in Assumption Parish Claims the Life of a 49 Year Old Man of Labadieville

Napoleonville – On February 18, 2010, at approximately1:33 p.m. Troop C investigated a Two vehicle crash in the 4200 block of LA 1 in Assumption Parish. The crash claimed the life of a 49 year old Labadieville man.

Edward T. Waller III (B/M, 49 of Labadieville, LA) was operating a 2002 Chrysler Concord, attempting to enter LA 1 from a private parking lot to proceed southbound on LA 1. Waller failed to yield and pulled out in front of a 1998 Dodge Pickup, driven by James D. Black Jr. (W/M, 54 of Jena, LA.) who was northbound on LA1.

Black, attempted to take evasive action by swerving into the southbound lane of LA 1 but, could not avoid crash with Waller. Waller and Black were wearing their seat belts. Waller was transported Our Lady of the Lake Assumption and pronounced dead at the hospital. Black received no injuries. Black was transported to Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office for a breath test. Test results were .000g%.

Alcohol and / or drug involvement on Waller is unknown at this time pending results from the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. No charges filed in the crash. Troopers are still continuing their investigation.
