Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 23, 2010 Troop C Urges Preparation and Safety during this Hurricane Season Gray- Louisiana State Police Troop C wants to remind everyone to make sure and prepare for the 2010 Hurricane Season which starts June 1, 2010, and ends November 30, 2010. Know what a hurricane watch and warning mean. Hurricane Watch: conditions are possible in the specified area of the watch, usually within 36 hours. Hurricane Warning: conditions are expected in the specified area of the warning, usually within 24 hours. Steps to Prepare for Hurricanes: Make a visual record of your home and possessions. Use a digital camera and/or video recorder. This will help establish your claim after a loss. Place copies of your insurance policies, family medical information, and important documents such as deeds and wills in a safe deposit box or safe. Carefully review your insurance coverage in advance of a hurricane. Listen and/or monitor the local media in your area for storms and/or hurricane updates. Make a list of supplies that you will need in the event of a hurricane and pack them ahead of time. Inspect and/or perform maintenance on your vehicle(s), trailers, generators, etc. Pickup and secure items around your home. HAVE A PLAN FOR EVACUATING!!!!!!!! ***Identify ahead of time where you will go if you are told to evacuate (choose several options). Make sure your vehicle has been properly inspected and / or serviced too make such a trip. Monitor the National Weather Service, Local Radio and TV stations for evacuation instructions. Remember, Contraflow is the evacuation of last resort. If you are advised to evacuate, do so immediately!!!!! Note: The Louisiana State Police is monitoring the movement and/or the advisories of Tropical Storm Bonnie. We will keep the public inform through the media and website.
