Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: June 1, 2010 Sulphur Man Arrested for Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor Houma: On Wednesday, May 19, 2010, LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division investigated Ethan McInnis (W/M, 19 of Sulphur, LA.). McInnis is accused of committing crimes of indecent behavior with a juvenile; computer aided solicitation with a minor and attempted production of child pornography by soliciting images of children. LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division, Houma office with the assistance of LSP Region II Criminal Investigative Division, Lake Charles office executed an arrest warrant and search warrant at the residence of McInnis, and seized two computers for forensic examination. The search warrant and arrest stems from the program Operation Child Watch. The Operation Child Watch was started under the leadership of Col. Mike Edmonson in October 2008. The mission of Operation Child Watch is to rescue children from the hands of abusers, to pro actively investigate cases involving the sexual abuse of children, and educate parents on the dangers of the internet. In 2009, the Louisiana State Police open two hundred and eighty-eight cases as part of Operation Child Watch. Twelve children were rescued from being sexually abused. McInnis was arrested and booked on the above listed charges at the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Facility and later transported to the Terrebonne Parish Correctional Facility. McInnis’s bond was set at $25,000.00. The investigation is ongoing.
