Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: June 28, 2010 Crash Claims The Life Of A New Orleans Woman Lafourche- On Monday, June 28, 2010, at approximately 4:18 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a three vehicle crash on U.S. 90 east of LA182 in Lafourche Parish that claimed the life of a New Orleans, LA. woman. Charon Sylve, (B/F, 56 of New Orleans, LA), was operating a 2000 Toyota Avalon westbound on U.S.90 west of LA 182 in Raceland, LA. Sylve’s vehicle, lost control and crossed the median into the eastbound lane and struck a 2002 Toyota truck driven by Michelle Rapagna, (W/F, 41 of Gray, LA.). Jackie Arnold, (W/M, 61 of Des Allemands, LA.), was operating a 2008 Ford truck in the eastbound lane behind Rapagna’s vehicle, and struck Rapagna’s vehicle in an attempt to avoid the crash. Sylve was not wearing a seat belt and received fatal injuries. Nevaeh Washington (B/F, 5 of Schriever, LA.), who was the right front passenger, was not properly restrained and received minor injuries. Rapagna was wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries. Arnold was wearing a seat belt and received no injuries. All injured parties were transported to Ochsner St. Anne Hospital in Raceland, LA. Both occupants in the Sylve were not properly restrained. Louisiana law requires everyone in the vehicle to be properly restrained. Blood Analysis is pending on Sylve and Rapagna from the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office and the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. A breath test was given to Jackie Arnold which indicated no detectable alcohol in the breath result. Troopers are continuing their investigation. Contact Information: | |||
