| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 2, 2010 Fatal Crash Claims the Life of Three from Terrebonne Parish Terrebonne – On July 2, 2010, at approximately 2:24 a.m., Troop C investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 24 South at the Rod Bridge in Terrebonne Parish. The crash claimed the lives of three Terrebonne Parish residents. Robert Short (B/M, 24 of Gibson, LA) was operating a 1998 Ford Expedition southbound on LA 24 in Gray, LA. Short attempted to switch lanes and struck the rear passenger side of a 2007 Toyota pickup, driven by Raymond Bourg (W/M, 21 of Houma, LA.). According to witnesses, Bourg’s vehicle was traveling ahead of Short’s vehicle southbound and both appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed. Short attempted to change lanes from the left to the right and upon returning back into the left lane, struck the right rear passenger side of Bourg’s vehicle. Both vehicles lost control and ran off the roadway to the left. Prior to both vehicles coming to rest, Short’s vehicle struck a fence, tree, and house. Bourg’s vehicle struck two trees. Short and Bourg were wearing seat belts and received fatal injuries. Lindsey Fontenot (W/M, 25 of Gray, LA.) right front seat passenger in Bourg’s vehicle, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected receiving fatal injuries. All occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs is unknown, pending blood results from the Coroner’s Office. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash. Troopers are continuing their investigation. Louisiana state law requires everyone in a vehicle to wear seat belts. Please remember to Buckle Up.
