Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 6, 2010 “NO REFUSAL” Holiday A Success In The Troop C Area Gray- Louisiana State Police Troop C would like to thank Terrebonne, Lafourche, Assumption, and St. James District Attorney’s Offices, and the Local Law Enforcement agencies who participated in the “No Refusal” July 4th holiday. This July 4th holiday Troop C troopers were out in force to ensure the safety of everyone as they traveled to their destinations. As a result, troopers arrested 11 motorists for DWI and had to obtain warrants for 2 refusals. Additionally, troopers issued the following citations: 94 speeding, 15 improper lane usage, 11 ignored traffic control, 11 careless operation, 27 seat belt use, 7 child restraints, 9 insurance violations, and 32 public assists. The implementing of the “No Refusal” July 4th Holiday indicated a decline in the number of DWI arrests and refusals from 2009. During the July 4, 2009 holiday period, Troop C troopers arrested 20 DWI’s and had 5 refusals. Troop C did not investigate any critical or fatal crashes over this holiday weekend. Troopers will continue to focus their enforcement efforts on the state’s DWI and Seat Belt laws to ensure compliance. Impaired drivers are a danger to themselves and to everyone else sharing the road.
