Edmonson, Superintendent News Release July 16, 2010 Gibson Man Dies in Crash Assumption Parish - On July 16, 2010, at approximately 4:26 a.m., Troop C investigated a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA 182 between the two LA 662 intersections in Amelia, LA. Carlo N. Gagliano (W/M, 40 of Amelia, LA) was operating a 2001 Nissan Frontier eastbound on LA 182 in Amelia, LA. A pedestrian, Troy Francois (B/M, 42 of Gibson, LA.) for unknown reasons was lying in the roadway of the eastbound lane when the crash occurred. Francois received fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol and Drug use is unknown pending blood results on Francois from the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. Gagliano who was wearing a seat belt received no injuries. A breath test performed on Gagliano indicated no alcohol involvement. Through further investigation, it was learn that Francois and a female passenger, Latavia Green (B/F, 25 of Morgan City, LA) was involved in a single vehicle crash on July 16, 2010, at approximately 1:00 a.m., on US 90 near the Amelia exit in Amelia, LA. Preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle had flipped ejecting both occupants. Francois fled the scene of the crash. Acadian Ambulance transported Green to the Teche Hospital in Morgan City, LA. for moderate injuries sustained in the crash. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is handling that investigation. No charges filed in the fatal crash and Troopers are continuing their investigation.
