Edmonson, Superintendent News Release December 1, 2009 Louisiana State Police Troop C Investigates Fatal Crash On U.S. 90 In Lafourche Parish RACELAND- On Monday, November 30, 2009 Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatal crash on U.S. 90 east of LA. 182 in Lafourche Parish. A 2000 Ford Focus, driven by Anibal Alvarez (H/M, 55 yoa) of 4111 Old Mobile Hwy in Pascagoula, MS. was westbound on U.S. 90 near Raceland, LA. For unknown reasons, the 2000 Ford Focus crossed the median and struck an eastbound 2004 Dodge Dakota, driven by Eddie Bergeron (W/M, 62 yoa) of 1407 Levee Dr. in Houma, LA. Mr. Alvarez was transported to St. Anne Hospital in Raceland, LA. with serious injuries and was later transported to University Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Alvarez was later pronounced dead, from injuries sustained from the crash. Mr. Bergeron was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital with minor injuries. Seat belts worn by both drivers and Alcohol and drugs not suspected in this crash. The crash is still ongoing and being investigated by Tpr. Joseph Dier.
