| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: April 14, 2009 Houma Man Arrested For Possession of Marijuana Houma- A Houma man was arrested yesterday afternoon after a multi-agency investigation led to over ten thousand dollars worth of marijuana found in a duffle bag and tractor trailer in the parking lot of the Plantation truck Plaza in Houma. On April 13, 2009, the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division conducted a narcotics investigation, with the assistance of the Houma Police Department and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, in which 10 ½ pounds of marijuana was seized from a Terrebonne Parish resident. Troopers received information from a confidential source that Dion Stokes was going to deliver the marijuana, which has a street value $10,500.00, to another individual at the Plantation Truck Plaza on LA 311 in Terrebonne Parish. The business is not involved in the illegal activity. Troopers and officers set up surveillance on the parking lot and observed Stokes in the parking lot carrying a large green duffle bag. Troopers and officers confronted Stokes and determined that the duffle bag contained seven bags of marijuana with a total weight of 10 pounds. Stokes gave troopers and officers consent to search his vehicle, a 1999 Freightliner 18-wheeler. Inside the vehicle, troopers and officers discovered another one-half pound of marijuana. They also discovered a large amount of plastic bags with marijuana residue inside which indicated that Stokes was involved in having larger amounts of marijuana shipped into Terrebonne Parish than the 10 ½ pounds that was seized and three digital scales. Troopers arrested Stokes for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Citizens can report criminal activity to the State Police’s Criminal Investigations Division at (985) 876-8834. Contact Information: | |||
