Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 4, 2009 ***Media and Public Invitation*** 5th Annual Troop C Open House Gray- Louisiana State Police Troop C will be hosting the 5th Annual Troop C Open House on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Troop C Headquarters in Gray, LA. Captain Darrin Naquin, Commander of Troop C, and the Louisiana State Police cordially invite everyone to Troop C’s 5th annual open house. After four year’s of Open Houses, the troopers at Troop C have seen this event grow into a phenomenal tool to show citizens what the Louisiana State Police is all about. Many citizens only know one aspect of State Police, seeing the trooper on the side of the road investigating crashes and writing tickets. Our goal is to demonstrate to you several different sections of State Police. This will be an excellent opportunity for the Louisiana State Police- Troop C family to share our knowledge and equipment with each of you. Different sections from within the Louisiana State Police will be in attendance to show the equipment which is used, plus several demonstrations will be performed. Those different sections scheduled to attend include our Hazardous Materials/Explosives Section (which will include the bomb robot and bomb detection K-9), Air Support (Helicopter display), S.W.A.T. (including a static display of the various equipment utilized), Narcotics, Applied Technology sections, the brand new State Police Mobile Command Center, and Troop C’s K-9 unit. Troopers will be conducting tours of Troop C and different police vehicles. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the history of Troop C, as there will be past uniforms and memorabilia on display. A certified car seat technician will be available to inspect child safety seats and troopers will also be taking fingerprints and DNA samples of children. The samples will be given to the parents for safekeeping should they be needed in the future. The Troop C 5th Annual Open House is open to the general public. Troop C is located on LA 24 North at US 90. Troop C will have parking available, and additional parking will be next to Troop C at the Terrebonne Truck Stop. Please consider this a personal invitation to attend. Bring your family members, neighbors, and friends. There will be plenty of free food and drinks for everyone. We look forward to seeing you.
