Houma- A Houma man was killed yesterday evening in a crash on Country Estates Drive after being involved in a Hit and Run crash that occurred minutes prior.

1^st Crash (Hit and Run Crash)

A 2003 Chrysler Sebring, driven by Steven Goubert (W/M, 23, of Houma, LA), was on LA 316 southbound and attempted to make a right turn onto Country Estates Drive. As Goubert turned, he struck a stopped Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Chaunacey Arsan (34, of Thibodaux, LA), that was waiting to make a turn onto LA 316. After impact, Goubert fled the scene westbound on Country Estates Drive.

2^nd Crash (Fatality Crash)

Shortly after fleeing, as Goubert traveled west on Country Estates, he lost control of his vehicle while exiting a slight left curve. His vehicle rotated counterclockwise, crossed into the eastbound lane, and his passenger side struck a 1997 Ford Expedition (driven by Angela Perera, 30, of Houma, LA). Upon impact both vehicles rotated clockwise and came to rest just off the east bound lane of travel. Goubert was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries. Perera was wearing her seat belt, sustained moderate to serious injuries, and was transported to Terrebonne General by Acadian Ambulance. Alcohol/Drug use is unknown with results pending. This crash occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at approximately 7:10 PM. Tpr. Dustin Richard is continuing his investigation.
