Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 23, 2009 17 Year Old Unrestrained Passenger Killed in Gibson Crash Gibson- Two seventeen year old Gibson residents were ejected last night on North Bayou Black Dr. in Terrebonne Parish after their vehicle left the roadway and overturned; killing the passenger. A 1996 Honda Accord, driven by Jeffrey Trahan Jr. (W/M, 17, of Gibson, LA), was traveling east on North Bayou Black Dr. when the Honda went off the roadway to the right. Trahan overcorrected the vehicle back onto the roadway, crossed both lanes, and ran off the roadway to the left striking a ditch. The Honda overturned ejecting the driver and passenger, Donald McInnis (W/M, 17, of Gibson, LA). The passenger, McInnis, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Trahan sustained minor injuries and was transported to Chabert Medical by Acadian Ambulance. Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing his seat belt. Drug use/ Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash; however, charges are pending analysis of Trahan’s blood/urine toxicology results from the Louisiana State Police- Crime Lab. This crash occurred near 5974 North Bayou Black Dr. on March 22, 2009 at approximately 10:25 PM. Tpr. Brian Harding is continuing his investigation. Contact Information: | |||
