Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 18, 2009 88 Year Old Raceland Man Dies at Hospital Hours After Crash Bayou Blue- An eighty-eight year old Raceland man died at the hospital after being involved in a crash on LA 316 at US 90 early this morning. On Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at approximately 7:45 am, Cecil Guidry (88, of Raceland, LA), was driving his 2000 Ford Ranger truck west on U.S. 90 when he exited onto LA 316. Guidry then attempted to cross LA 316 in an attempt to enter the U.S. 90 westbound on ramp. As Guidry’s vehicle began to cross the southbound lanes of LA 316 it was first struck in the inside lane (left lane) by a southbound 2006 Nissan Titan truck, which was being driven by Robert Gravois (24, of Labadieville, LA). After Guidry’s truck was struck by Gravois’s truck, Guidry was struck again by a southbound Toyota Tacoma traveling in the outside lane (right lane) of LA 316. The 1997 Toyota Tacoma truck was being driven by Troy Guerrero (41, of Gray, LA). Guidry, who was the only occupant in his truck, was transported to St. Anne Hospital. At approximately 3:30 PM, the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office contacted Troop C and advised us that Guidry had died as a result of the crash. Gravois, who was the only occupant in his truck, received minor injuries and was transported to Thibodaux Regional Hospital. Guerrero, who was the only occupant in his truck, received minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. All drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol and drug use are not suspected to be a factor in the crash. There are no charges pending in the crash. Troopers are continuing their investigation. | |||
