Gheens- A vehicle crash on LA 654 in the Community of Gheens, LA leaves a Gheens female dead and two in critical condition.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at approximately 1:45 AM, Slade St. Pierre, 36, of Lockport, LA was driving a 2003 Dodge Dually truck westbound in the middle of LA 654. An Easy-Go Golf Cart, driven by Mark Plaisance Jr, 22, of Gheens, LA, was traveling west in the eastbound lane on LA 654 when it was struck from behind by the Dodge. The Dodge then exited the roadway to the right striking a pedestrian, Melissa Elder, 48, of Gheens, LA, who was walking west on the westbound shoulder. The Dodge re-entered the roadway, crossed the center line, and went onto South Leon Street. The Dodge then left the roadway to the right striking an unoccupied properly parked vehicle in front of Bill’s Place. After striking the parked vehicle, the Dodge continued south for approximately 80 yards before coming to a stop and then returning to the scene.
