Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: August 19, 2009 ***UPDATE*** Arrest Made After Results of Blood Returns From Crime Lab On August 12, 2009, Cindy States drove her vehicle across the center line and struck another vehicle head-on killing Stacy Domangue and injuring others. Blood was taken from Cindy States and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The blood results have returned with the following results: Cindy States’ blood alcohol level was .30g%. This is almost four times the legal limit. A warrant was obtained for Cindy States and on August 18, 2009 at 7:00 PM, she turned herself in to troopers. She was then transported to Lafourche Parish Jail and charged with Vehicular Negligent Homicide, 2 counts of Vehicular Negligent Injuring, and Driving Left of Center. Her bond was set at 650,000 dollars. Original Release Thibodaux- A fatal head-on crash involving three vehicles in northern Lafourche Parish claimed the life of a Thibodaux woman and injured three others. The crash occurred on LA 1 south of Winder Road in Thibodaux, LA. Cindy States (W/F, 52, of Thibodaux, LA) was operating a white 2004 BMW 325ci northbound on LA 1 in the southbound lane when she struck a southbound 2006 Mitsubishi Galant, driven by Stacy Domangue (W/F, 34, of Thibodaux). The initial impact pushed the Mitsubishi Galant backwards and off the roadway to the east. The BMW continued northbound as it rotated and struck another southbound vehicle. Ronald Peltier (W/M, 38, of Thibodaux) was driving his 1996 Dodge Caravan southbound on LA 1 when it was struck by the BMW near the southbound shoulder. Cindy States was wearing her seat belt and sustained minor to moderate injuries. She was transported to Thibodaux Regional. Stacy Domangue was not wearing her seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ronald Peltier and his wife, Ladonna Peltier, sustained minor injuries and were both were transported to Thibodaux Regional. Alcohol is suspected on the part of Cindy States; however, toxicology is pending from the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory. Charges are pending the results of the blood test.
