Montegut- A Montegut man died early this morning after the motorcycle he was operating struck a tree off of LA 55 in southern Terrebonne Parish.

A 2006 Harley Davidson, driven by David Landry (W/M, 52, of Montegut, LA), was traveling north on LA 55 when he ran off the roadway to the right and struck two mailboxes and a tree. He was transported to Terrebonne General Medical Center in critical condition where he later died.

Alcohol is suspected; however, the results are pending. Landry was not wearing a helmet when the traffic crash occurred. There were no passengers on the motorcycle. This crash occurred near 1347 Hwy 55 in Montegut, LA on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at approximately 12:15 AM. S/T Willie Verret is continuing his investigation.
