Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP C- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 30, 2009 Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Terrebonne Parish Schriever- A Schriever resident was struck and killed as she crossed Main Project Road to check her mailbox in northern Terrebonne Parish. Jerry Badeaux (W/M, 53, of Thibodaux, LA) was driving a 2001 Dodge Caravan north on Main Project Road north of LA 311. A pedestrian, Lula Leggett (B/F, 50, of Schriever, LA), was attempting to walk across the roadway from the northbound shoulder to the southbound shoulder to retrieve mail from her mailbox. Leggett was struck by the Caravan near the center of the roadway. After impact, both the Caravan and Leggett came to rest in the roadway. Leggett was pronounced dead on the scene. Alcohol/drug use is not suspected in the crash; however, blood was taken for analysis from Leggett and results are pending from the coroner’s office. Badeaux, the driver, was given a breath test and displayed results of .000g% indicating no alcohol. This crash occurred on Thursday, July 29, 2009 at approximately 9:25 PM.
