TROOP C NEWS RELEASE Troopers Arrest Man Wanted in Maine for Felony Theft Jefferson Parish – On April 26, 2019, Troopers with the Criminal Investigations Division-Houma Office (CID) were contacted by the Maine State Police (MSP) in reference to an active investigation involving felony theft. The suspect, 45-year-old Richard Shirey of Mocksville, NC, was located and arrested at his residence in Grand Isle this morning. Investigators with MSP obtained an arrest warrant for Shirey in March of this year when they learned he entered into a contract to build a home for clients in Maine, but did not perform the work. This information was passed on to LSP investigators who located Shirey at his residence this morning. Troopers took Shirey into custody and booked him into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Facility where he is awaiting extradition to Maine. Troopers with LSP are proud to work with other state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies to bring fugitives such as this to justice. The Louisiana State Police online reporting system is available to the public through a convenient and secure reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators.
