Pierre Part Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash

Belle Rose – Shortly before 4:00 p.m. this evening, Troopers with Troop C were notified of a single vehicle fatality crash on LA 70 just east of LA 308. The crash took the life of 51-year-old Troy Cavalier of Pierre Part.

The preliminary investigation revealed Cavalier was traveling west on LA 70 in a 1998 Lincoln Continental. For unknown reasons, Cavalier’s vehicle ran off of the roadway to the right and struck a yellow caution light pole. His vehicle then struck a culvert in a nearby ditch and overturned. Cavalier was properly restrained at the time of the crash but sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office.

Impairment is unknown to be a factor in the crash; however, a standard toxicology report is pending through the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
