TROOP C NEWS RELEASE Houma Man Arrested on Multiple Charges after LSP Investigation Houma – Earlier this morning, Troopers with the Criminal Investigations Division – Houma Field Office (CID-HFO) arrested 46-year-old Jeffery Lirette, a former Houma Police Officer, for theft and related charges. In October of 2019, the Houma Police Department requested CID-HFO to conduct an investigation of missing money in an expense account within the Houma Police Department. During the course of the investigation, Troopers with CID-HFO determined Lirette stole over $6,500.00 before he retired from the agency. After a thorough investigation, Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Lirette for one count of Malfeasance in Office, one count of theft between $5,000.00 and $25,000.00, forty-five counts of Injuring Public Records, and seventeen counts of Forgery.
