TROOP C NEWS RELEASE Thibodaux Woman Killed in Terrebonne Parish Crash Chacahoula – Shortly before 12:00 p.m. today, Troopers with Troop C began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on US 90 West at the Chacahoula exit. The crash took the life of 42-year-old Daphne Leray. The preliminary investigation revealed Leray was traveling west on US 90 in a 2012 Toyota Sienna. For unknown reasons, Leray traveled off of the roadway to the right and struck an impact attenuator that divides US 90 West and the exit ramp to LA 20. Leray’s vehicle overturned after impact and she sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance Service where she later died from her injuries. Seat belt usage is unknown at this time and impairment is not suspected. A standard toxicology report is pending and this crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to always make good decisions while operating motor vehicles. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, pay close attention to recent changes in child passenger seat laws, and follow all traffic laws. Taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death. Contact Information: | |||
