| TROOP C NEWS RELEASE December 12, 2017 Improper Passing Kills Motorcyclist in Terrebonne Parish Grand Bois – At approximately 7:30 this morning, Troopers with Troop C responded to a single-vehicle crash with critical injuries on LA 24 near the community of Grand Bois. The crash would ultimately take the life of 35 year old Christopher Trahan of Houma, LA. The preliminary investigation revealed Trahan was traveling south on LA 24 on a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle. Trahan began to pass another vehicle in a right hand curve that was marked as a no passing zone. As he was passing the vehicle, he lost control of his motorcycle. Trahan ran off of the roadway to the left and was ejected from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans by Acadian Ambulance Service Air Med where he later died. Alcohol and drug use is not suspected as being a factor in the crash; however, standard toxicology tests are pending. Trahan was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash. Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Making good choices while traveling, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death.
