| TROOP C NEWS RELEASE August 30, 2018 Unrestrained Teenager Killed in Lafourche Parish Crash Valentine – Shortly before 5:30 this morning, Troopers with Troop C began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on LA 308 south of the Valentine Bridge. The crash took the life of 19 year old Robbie Istre of Cut Off, LA. The preliminary investigation revealed Istre was traveling north on LA 308 in a 2007 Ford F-150. For reasons still under investigation, Istre entered a right curve in the roadway, crossed the center line, and ran off of the roadway to the left. Istre’s vehicle then struck a tree and he suffered fatal injuries as a result. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash; however, a standard toxicology report is pending through the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
