| TROOP C NEWS RELEASE September 12, 2018 Failure to Yield Kills Motorcyclist in St. James Parish Crash Vacherie – Shortly after 5:30 this morning, Troopers with Troop C began investigation a two-vehicle fatality crash on LA 3127 at LA 3213. The crash took the life of 39 year old Jason Lee of Pearl River, LA. The preliminary investigation revealed 35 year old Brent Molaison of Thibodaux was traveling south in the left turning lane of LA 3127 in a 2004 Pontiac Montana. He began to make a left turn onto LA 3213 in front of Lee who was traveling north on LA 3127 on a 2000 Honda motorcycle. Lee struck the passenger side of Molaison’s vehicle and he was ejected from his motorcycle. Lee suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office. He was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash. Molaison was wearing his seat belt and sustained moderate injuries. He was transported to the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance Service for treatment. Impairment is unknown as a factor at this time. A standard toxicology report is pending on the part of Lee through the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office. Lee submitted a blood sample for drug and alcohol testing and the results are pending through the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
