TROOP C NEWS RELEASE June 28, 2018 Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled for Lafourche Parish Louisiana State Police Troop C will conduct a Sobriety Checkpoint on the evening of June 29, 2018 at an undisclosed location in Lafourche Parish. With the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations approaching, Troopers want remind the public that drinking responsibly is the best way to celebrate your independence. The checkpoint will be manned by Louisiana State Police Troop C and local Law Enforcement Agencies as an ongoing proactive effort to remove impaired drivers from the roadways. Troopers will be using the Mobile Breath Alcohol Testing Unit to aid their efforts. Every year on the highways across the state of Louisiana, numerous people are killed or injured by impaired drivers. Sobriety checkpoints are an effective enforcement tool serving as a deterrent to impaired and drunken driving. The task of stopping these impaired drivers is a joint effort of law enforcement agencies and the public. By never allowing an impaired driver to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and reporting dangerous drivers to law enforcement, the public can play an important role in the reduction of crashes caused by impaired drivers.
