Driver Succumbs to Injuries Received in Assumption Parish Crash

Plattenville On December 3, 2021, shortly after 12:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C was notified of a two-vehicle head-on injury crash on Louisiana Highway 308 about a mile south of Louisiana Highway 70 Spur in Assumption Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 77-year-old Diane Borne of Napoleonville.

The preliminary investigation revealed Borne, who was traveling north on LA Hwy 308 in a 2010 Nissan Sentra, attempted to pass another vehicle while in a no passing zone. After crossing the centerline, Borne struck a southbound 2015 Nissan Sentra head-on.

Both Borne and the driver of the 2015 Nissan were properly restrained at the time of the crash and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. On December 4, 2021, Borne succumbed to her injuries received during the crash while at the hospital. This crash remains under investigation.

Drivers should always make good decisions while operating motor vehicles. Obeying all traffic laws and never driving while impaired, fatigued, or distracted can often mean the difference between a safe drive and one that ends in tragedy.

Troop C has investigated 40 fatal crashes resulting in 53 deaths in 2021.
