TROOP A NEWS RELEASE July 25, 2014 Unrestrained Plaquemine Man Killed in Iberville Parish Fatal Crash Plaquemine – Shortly before 11:30 pm on July 24, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 75 south of LA Hwy 3066 in Iberville Parish. The crash took the life of 64 year old Winsley J. St. Pierre, Jr. of Plaquemine, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as St. Pierre was driving a 1992 Ford F-150 southbound on LA Hwy 75. St. Pierre failed to negotiate a left hand curve, and his Ford ran off the roadway to the right. After leaving the roadway the Ford struck a tree. St. Pierre was unrestrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Driver impairment is unknown at this time. A toxicology sample was taken from St. Pierre and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Contact Information: | |||
