| TROOP C NEWS RELEASE July 31, 2017 Thibodaux Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Terrebonne Parish Crash Schriever – Shortly after 8:00 pm on July 30, 2017, Troop C was notified of an injury crash on LA 20 at the intersection with LA 3185. The crash claimed the life of 27 year old Carwin Scott this morning. Scott had an outstanding warrant in Terrebonne Parish for Attempted Murder, and was fleeing from members of the Thibodaux Police Department at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. The preliminary investigation revealed Scott was traveling south on LA 20 in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Scott approached the intersection with LA 3185 and disregarded a red traffic light. Upon entering the intersection the Tahoe struck a 2010 Honda CR-V being driven by Frances Robichaux of Thibodaux. Scott’s vehicle exited the road to the right after impact and entered a yard. The Tahoe struck the residence at that location, and Scott became trapped inside his vehicle. He was not wearing his seat belt and sustained serious injuries. Scott was initially transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance Service, and was later transferred to University Medical Center in New Orleans by Acadian Ambulance Air Med Service. He died from his injuries this morning and was pronounced deceased by UMC medical staff. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Standard toxicology tests are pending on the part of Scott. Robichaux was properly restrained and uninjured in the crash, and showed no signs of impairment on scene. This crash remains under investigation.
