TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE November 25, 2014 Seat Belt Checkpoint Scheduled for the Troop C Area Louisiana State Police Troop C will conduct a nighttime seat belt checkpoint this evening, November 25, 2014 at an undisclosed location in Terrebonne Parish. The checkpoint will begin at approximately 6:00 pm and extend into the nighttime hours. This checkpoint is part of an ongoing national campaign “Click it or Ticket”, which is a proactive effort to raise seat belt safety awareness on the roadways. This checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with the Louisiana State Police Troop C “Zero for December” campaign. The “Zero for December” campaign focuses on the goal of having no fatalities throughout the month of December and the holiday season. “Seat belts are the most effective safety feature ever invented and have helped save thousands of lives. Sadly, one in five Americans fail to regularly wear a seat belt when driving or riding in a motor vehicle. By maintaining the "Click It or Ticket" brand and awareness, we will continue to reduce seat belt fatalities on America's roads,” according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police. Contact Information: Tfc.
