TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE September 2, 2014 Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Lafourche Parish Raceland, LA- Shortly after 8:00 pm yesterday evening, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a fatal crash that involved a pedestrian on North Service Road in Lafourche Parish. The crash took the life of 26 year old Jace Sevin of Lockport, LA. The investigation revealed that a 1995 Acura Integra was traveling west on North Service Road, east of LA 653, in Raceland, LA. The Acura was being driven by Jean Claude Pierre (W/M age 18) of Raceland, LA. As the Acura was traveling, it struck Jace Sevin (W/M age 26) of Lockport, LA, in the westbound lane. Pierre, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured in the crash. Sevin was transported to St. Anne Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries he sustained in the crash. Impairment is suspected for Sevin, and routine toxicology tests are pending. Pierre submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement. Charges have not been filled at this time, and this crash remains under investigation.
