Motorcyclist Dies in Early Morning Crash

Houma, LA- Shortly after 2 am this morning, a 40 year old Thibodaux man was killed on North Hollywood Road after he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a utility pole.

The investigation revealed that a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on North Hollywood Road, near Williams Avenue, in Terrebonne Parish. The motorcycle was being driven by Verbon Robbins, (W/M age 40) of Thibodaux, LA. Verbon passed another motorcycle on North Hollywood Road and then failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The Harley traveled off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a utility pole. Verbon, who was wearing a US D.O.T. helmet, was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind motorists of the dangers of impaired driving. Never get behind the wheel of a vehicle or drive a motorcycle if you have had any alcohol to drink. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
