Head-On Crash Kills Two Unrestrained Drivers in Assumption Parish

Pierre Part, LA- Shortly before 6:30 am this morning, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a head-on fatality crash on LA 70 in Assumption Parish that claimed the lives of both drivers.

The investigation revealed that a 1993 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on LA 70 in Pierre Part, LA. The Tacoma was being driven by Lester Albarado (W/M age 51) of Pierre Part, LA. As the Tacoma was traveling north on LA 70, it failed to negotiate a right hand curve. The Tacoma crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane of LA 70 where it struck a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado head-on. The Silverado was being driven by Gabriel Plaisance (W/M age 57) of Pierre Part, LA. Both drivers, who were not wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead on the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office.

Impairment is unknown at this time, and routine toxicology tests are pending for both drivers. This crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
