Troopers Seek Public’s Help in Locating Hit and Run Vehicle which Struck a Child

Brusly Shortly after 1:30 pm on July 4th, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a hit and run crash involving a juvenile on a bicycle that occurred on LA Hwy 988 (River Rd.) north of LA Hwy 989-1 in West Baton Rouge Parish. The crash injured a 7 year old child from Brusly.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as the juvenile was riding a bicycle northbound on River Road in the southbound lane. Troopers believe that a southbound white SUV (possibly an early to mid-1990’s Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon) struck the child. The driver of the SUV continued traveling southbound on River Rd.

The child was not wearing a safety helmet and suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Troopers believe that the white SUV will have damage to the passenger side mirror.

This crash remains under investigation, and Troopers ask that anyone with any information regarding this crash please contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at 225-754-8500 or their local law enforcement agency
