TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE January 12, 2014 Bourg Man Killed in Early Morning Crash Gray, LA- Shortly before 3 AM this morning, a 45 year old Bourg man was killed when his vehicle traveled off the road in Terrebonne Parish. The investigation revealed that a 2010 Toyota Tundra was traveling north on LA 24 North just south of US 90 in Gray, LA. The Tundra was being driven by Ronnie Ard, (W/M age 45) of Bourg, LA. For unknown reasons, the Tundra traveled off the right side of the road and entered a ditch where it struck a driveway. After striking the driveway the Tundra began to rotate until it struck a guy wire for a telephone poll. Ard, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind motorists to always be aware of their surroundings, obey the posted speed limits, and avoid distractions while behind the wheel of a vehicle. While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. | |||
