TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE November 20, 2013 Unrestrained Driver Killed on LA 3235 in Lafourche Parish Galliano, LA- Shortly before 12 AM this morning, a 38 year old unrestrained driver was killed after he rear ended a vehicle on LA 3235 in Lafourche Parish. The investigation revealed that a 1997 Ford Explorer was traveling north on LA 3235 in the right lane approaching W163 Street. The Explorer was being driven by Danielle Plaisance, (W/F age 41) of Golden Meadow, LA. When the Explorer slowed to make a right turn onto W163 Street it was struck in the rear by a 1994 Mazda MX6 which was also traveling north on LA 3235 in the right lane. The Mazda was being driven by Glennon Quinley, (W/M age 38) of Galliano, LA. Quinley, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Plaisance, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Lady of the Sea Hospital with moderate injuries. Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending for Quinley. Blood was taken from Plaisance and the test results will be pending at the State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind motorists to always be aware of their surroundings and to avoid distractions while behind the wheel of a vehicle. While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. | |||
