TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE February 23, 2014 Raceland Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Lafourche Parish Raceland, LA- Shortly before 7 PM yesterday evening, a pedestrian was struck and killed after he walked into the path of a vehicle on LA 1 in Raceland, LA. The investigation revealed that a 2009 Ford F-150 was traveling north on LA 1, north of US 90, in Raceland, LA. The Ford was being driven by Candy Baudoin (W/F age 19) of Lockport, LA. For unknown reasons, Kenneth Hughes (B/M age 55) of Raceland, LA, attempted to cross LA 1 as the vehicle approached, and walked into the path of the F-150. Baudoin, who was wearing her seat belt, was not injured in the crash. Hughes was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Hughes was wearing dark clothing in an area that was dimly lit by street lights. Alcohol use or impairment is not suspected to be a factor, but routine toxicology tests are pending for Hughes. Baudoin submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement. This crash remains under investigation.
