Unrestrained Driver Killed in Lafourche Parish Crash

Raceland, LA- Shortly before 2:30 am this morning, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a fatality crash that claimed the life of a 32 year old Paradis woman on LA 308 in Lafourche Parish.

The investigation revealed that a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling south on LA 308. The Traverse was being driven by Agnes Rounds (B/F age 32) of Paradis, LA. For unknown reasons, the Traverse traveled off the right side off the roadway as the vehicle was negotiating a right hand curve on LA 308. After leaving the roadway, the Traverse struck a ditch and a fence pole causing the vehicle to flip end over end. As the Traverse was flipping, it struck a 2006 Dodge truck that was parked before coming to rest. Rounds, who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and transported to Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Impairment is unknown at this time, and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.


While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash.



Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
